So after missing out last year due to different circumstances I was very fortunate to be able to attend the ‘All Things Beauty’ event, hosted by Style Birmingham and Harvey Nichols Birmingham. After attending the event, I couldn’t believe how inspiring it was for both my attitude towards my blog, and my future career aspirations! I felt like it made everything fall into place for me and gave me certainty for the direction I want to take this blog in (A more quality based attitude; tying value products in with high end products for the best combinations). Lately, I feel like my shopping habits have completely changed and I really want to capture this through my blog. I’ve spent years with the attitude of getting the most for my money quantity-wise, but I’ve recently acquired the habit of loving pieces more and buying less. Not only has this been inspired by an awareness of sustainability, but also evaluating the quality of higher end products. And although I never thought I’d say something like this, but these days- You get what you pay for! I could go into even further detail about this new venture of mine as I feel like it ties in with this event experience perfectly, but that’s for another post! So about the actual event…
Upon entering the lustful Harvey Nichols store early, I couldn’t help but have a browse at some of the gorgeous bags, accessories and of course… makeup. Once it reached 6:30pm we were promptly greeted with luxurious prosecco and an orange juice alternative.
After leisurely continuing to browse for about fifteen minutes I eagerly went to check out the Marc Jacobs Beauty masterclass. Marc Jacobs Beauty has only recently opened its counter in Harvey Nichols, and I was not disappointed. The beautiful model Hannah and the two makeup artist left me feeling so inspired, and the special see-quins limited edition glitter eyeshadows caught my eye. I couldn’t grasp how pigmented they were for glitter based eyeshadows, I could see the pigment on Hannah from the back row.
The makeup artists were so talented and insightful, as you can tell from the flawless makeup application from above.
Once the masterclass had finished, I made my way to the Marc Jacobs counter to pick up one of the see-quin eyeshadows, but unfortunately my favourite shade had already sold out. I can’t explain how gutted I was after the lovely makeup artist trialled it out on me and jazzed it up with a beautiful pink highliner in my waterline. I highly recommend these shadows so grab them while you can. Incidentally, I opted for a Marc Jacobs Lipstick which I can’t wait to try out, considering its ten hour wear claims.
Oh, and did I mention, the price of my ticket was redeemable against any purchases! So I was able to get myself a nifty £10.00 discount. I could have easily bought everything there, just look at how stunning the displays were…
So after browsing for another hour or so, I admitted defeat and decided to leave with my gifted Harvey Nichols vouchers including cocktails and facials; I can’t wait to go back and get my use out of them. I may even sneak in a couple of cheeky makeup buys depending on my mood…
Overall, I can’t recommend this event enough! As far as I am aware, the event runs once a year and is open to all Style Insiders of Style Birmingham, so maybe if you didn’t make it this year, or were unaware of the event- you can eagerly take part next year.
I hope you all enjoyed reading about my visit to this particular event, and let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more posts resembling this style. And congratulations to Style Birmingham and Harvey Nichols for pulling off such a successful event.
