Instantly, I recognised that this primer is silicone based. I’m still unsure on my views of silicone primers as I feel like they break me out. But if you usually opt for silicone primers, this is a must have. Light but smoothing, this primer definitely sits well on pores and creates a tacky base for foundation application. And at 99p this is something you need to add to your makeup collection
Unfortunately, I was unable to find an appropriate foundation. All the shades available were either too orange-based or too light for my yellow-based skin tone. So alternatively, I used the Primark ‘My Perfect Colour BB Cream’ for this look. If they were to expand the shade range at a later date, I would definitely be up for giving it a try!
The eyebrow pencil I’ve used here is in the shade light brown as I prefer a fluffier, more natural toned brow. If you’re looking for a bold defined brow, opt for dark brown! This has genuinely become my every day brow pencil as I love the creamy and easily blend-able texture. If you enjoy a more sharp and rigid pencil for making your brows FLEEKY AF, this is probably not for you.
This was the one shade range that confused me; the ‘light’ shade was darker than the ‘dark’ shade, so I decided to take home the dark shade. If you are in the market for a brightening, non-creasing, light coverage concealer- This is for you! Granted, as you can see in the photo, this concealer isn’t full coverage but it is very light and refreshing. I reach for this concealer when I want a natural no-makeup makeup look.
This is a product that the range doesn’t currently carry, so I set my concealer with a Poundland pressed powder for the sake of this look.
In this look, I’ve used the bronzer in my crease, which I will go on to talk about later. I’ve done this because the range doesn’t currently carry any matte shades. For shimmer, I have used the shade Toasted Mauve. This colour instantly caught my eye and is the loveliest rich purple. The shade is very sheer when applied and is a little more intense with a wet brush. The only down-side to these eyeshadows is that they aren’t extremely pigmented, so only opt for these if you are looking for a natural every day shadow. Aside from this, I absolutely love the soft texture of these shadows.
This was one of my least favourite products from the Olivia Hale range. The brush was oddly curved and didn’t catch my lashes well. Though the mascara lengthened my lashes, it was a very natural look; in keeping with the rest of the range. So, if this sounds like your type of product, you may get on better with this than I did. My preference is volume and length with mascaras and I found that this just didn’t live up to my other value mascaras such as Primark ones.
This bronzer is a fond favourite of mine, I have fallen in love with its red toned base because it surprisingly compliments my skin tone so well, and I never thought it would. The only downside to this bronzer is its blend-ability. If you hate taking time to blend products out, do not reach for this one, it took me a fair few minutes to blend this out so it didn’t look patchy. There was additionally a lot of kickback during application so be weary of this. For me the patience is worth it for the natural bronzed look.
The blusher does exactly what the shade describes- Pearlescent Pink. The pearlescent sheen to this shade gives a natural and dewy flushed look.
I love this bronzer/highlighting brick; however, it is super chalky! When swatched, the shades are quite sheer and they give a naturally fresh glow-y look. With this brick, you can either use the 5 shades separately (if you like to experiment with different tones of highlighter), or run your brush over all of them to create a more champagne toned highlight.
These lipsticks are super creamy! Almost too creamy for me. Like the rest of the range, it goes without saying, these are super sheer. This particular shade Antique Rose did not suit me at all, and isn’t my usual go to in terms of pinks. Pale pinks like these always make me look ill and are way too cool toned for me. If these types of pink suit you, you will be more than happy with this shade and its balmy texture. I really wish I had opted for the deep red shade, but the next product was on hand to save me!
Last but not least, my favourite product from the entire range! This lipgloss was the matching shade to the lipstick and fortunately a lot darker, so suited me so well. I am absolutely in love with the texture of this product, it’s almost like water; Making it super comfortable to wear and very versatile to mix with other lip products. I loved this so much that I returned to purchase the Nude shade, and I am yet to try it out. Let me know if you’d like me to share my views on that too!
And here is the finished makeup look. I’ve really enjoyed creating this style of post and experimenting with these products to give you my true opinions of them. Let me know if you’ve tried out any of the Olivia Hale products, or if this post has swayed you into trying value makeup for the first time!
